Virtual Tour The Eastern Washington University (EWU) English Language Institute (ELI) focuses on helping non-native speakers of English improve their academic English skills in order to enter directly into EWU university programs or MBA/Graduate Preparation Programs. ELI students who are academically admissible to EWU may enroll directly in undergraduate classes when they receive an ELI faculty recommendation.

    EWU is located in the State of Washington in an area known as the Pacific Northwest - a safe, clean, friendly place to study and live. The city of Spokane, a metropolitan area with a population of 300,000 is located 24 kilometers from EWU's main campus in the town of Cheney. The population of Cheney is 9,855. Fifty-one buildings on 300 acres make up the main campus. There is easy bus service between Cheney and Spokane. Spokane International Airport, 20 minutes from Spokane and Cheney, serves the travel needs of international and domestic travelers.
